Supply of 4 HTT Tamping Machines
Due to the increase in the traffic on most railways sectors and the demand to provide a maintenance, Iraqi Republic Railways Company have decided to purchase a new technology of railway tampers, therefore they have signed a contract with Al-Burhan group to supply four Tamping, Lining and Leveling Machines type Harsco Mark VI.
This new Harsco Tamper (Mark VI) which was fist introduced to Railway market in 1991, and since then had continuous efforts to improve the product performance to establish world standards for this type of maintenance equipment. The dominant characteristics of this machine are high production, accuracy, travel speed, versatility and component reliability.
This machine can quickly access work sites by virtue of a 195 KW (260 hp) diesel engine controlled by an electric throttle up to 2200 rpm, and a four speed power shift transmission manipulated via electric push button shifter.
The transmission is coupled to the diesel engine through a hydraulic torque converter and transmits the driving torque to a conventional drive axle.
The soft elastomer suspension system which incorporates a pivoting axle, also accommodates four suspension friction dampeners, delivering a smooth and comfortable ride.
The utilization of such modern components enables the Mark VI Tamper to accelerate safely and quickly tip to 80 km/h speeds, arriving at the work site or clearing the occupied sections of tracks in minimal time.
Another advantage of this type of drive train is the ability to approach long grades at higher speeds than most conventional work equipment. The possibility of down shifting at any time, enables the machine to retain maximum speed while negotiating grades. Down shifting on a descending grade and/or slowing considerably aids braking retardation and contributes to safer, more dependable and longer wearing braking components.
Al-Burhan Group have successfully supplied three of the same machines in May 2006, Iraqi Ministry of Transport were delighted to sign with Al-Burhan Group this new contract to supply four more machines.en supplied by Al-Burhan Group.
