Link Iraq and Jordan with Railway Line

This is one of the most strategic lines which Iraqi Republic Railway Company to expand their own railway network in the region. The decision was reached to sign this contract with the joint venture of (Al-Burhan Group, Dorsch Consult and ETC Transport Consultants) to provide the consultancy services and to perform the feasibility study and Preliminary design between Mafraq Al-Rutba (Rutba Junction) to Trabil station on Iraqi and Jordanian border with a total length of 420km.

The study shall be made of maximum speed (160 km/hr) for passenger train and (120 km/hr) for cargo train using UIC-60 or 60E1 rails.
The plan is to have single line design with possibility of expand to a double line in the future.
The study will cover the following:
- Surveying of alignment and initial designs of alignments, and profiles as needed.
- Transportation including traffic estimate.
- Permanent way including formation, culverts, bridges and road crossing.
- Building including work shops structure.
- Rolling stocks.
- Plants and machinery for workshops, other maintenance facilities, for rolling stocks machines, etc.
- Signaling and Telecommunications.
- Distribution of power supply to workshops, yards station buildings, residential buildings, etc.
- Maintenance facilities for fixed structure, track, buildings, bridges and other structure, signals and telecommunication.
The study will include the evaluation of different alternatives and making recommendations as well cost estimation to construct the new line.
DORSCH CONSULT Verkehr und Infrastruktur GmbH was contracted with Iraqi Ministry of construction & Housing / State Commission of Roads & Bridges in the seventies from the last century to provide the consultancy service to design the high way road between Baghdad and Amman which called (EXPRESS WAY NO. 1) which is parallel to the new suggested railway line.
