Al-Burhan Group has signed a contract to supply 2,875,000 Pandrol Nylon Liner Insulator (PR607a) rail fastening with Pandrol UK. Allowing Iraq to support & maintain the existing sleepers which use the PR607a fastening system.

In the past the Iraqi Republic Railway company had set their standard for Pandrol brand HVN insulator type 2435. However the Pandrol UK department of Development & Research have premeditated new developments which can strengthen the insulators & give them more durability by adding Rohdia Technyl A402H1(VG) which is a new material.

The insulators will be supplied to the Iraqi Republic Railway in partial shipments & will be complete before the end of this year (2009).

Al-Burhan Group classifies this contract as one of the most contract to support the Pandrol systems in Iraq, with the continued plan to develop the existing Pandrol Fastening System by providing maintenance tools & accessories.

In addition A series of tests have been carried out in order to evaluate the suitability of alternative plastic material for use in the manufacture of insulators. Some of the test methods used are:

- Mioisture Conditioning
- Tensile Test
- Impact Test

The insulators manufactured from this material exhibit considerably greater tensile and impact strength characteristics and are expected to be more durable on tracks.
