In 2005 Al-Burhan Group signed a contract to supply eight Ganger Trolleys equipped with Crane type AGS-1 to Iraqi Republic Railways (IRR) as part of their railway expansion programme. Following a period of unexpected delay, the machines finally left a Russian port on the 31st of August, 2010 bound for Umm Qasr, Iraq. In accordance with IRR specifications; the machines consist of reliable multi-use platforms capable of a variety of tasks relating to the construction and maintenance of railway lines.
The machines were manufactured by Russian heavy-machinery manufacturer Murom. Powered by a 240 BHP Deutz F8-413 diesel engine; each Ganger Trolley is equipped with a crane and two cabins as well as space for carrying materials, tools and equipment. The driver’s cabin allows the operator to run the machines in both directions and is equipped with air conditioning and a communication system.
The onboard railway-specific crane allows for the safe and efficient loading and unloading of heavy cargo such as rail bar and loose ballast. The large 14 person crew cabin, also allows for fast transportation of personnel directly to working sites, minimising time spent in transit. These versatile machines will give IRR’s engineers and workers the capability to efficiently take on a wide variety of work in maintaining the IRR network.
Al-Burhan Group has an illustrious history of supplying heavy machinery and equipment to the Government of Iraq and its Ministries. The delivery of the eight Gangers Trolleys will be a further addition to the Group’s list of successful business operations in Iraq.
