Al-Burhan Group BIAP Camp construction begins
Al-Burhan Group recently signed a contract with UK service group Serco to manage and administer Iraq’s national Air Traffic Control system for two years. As part of this contract fulfilment; Al-Burhan Group is constructing an accommodation camp for Serco ATC employees based onsite at Baghdad International Airport. The modern and secure camp will contain 80 en-suite rooms along with living amenities and facilities. Construction workers recently broke ground and started building the camp foundations. The camp is projected to be completed in April 2011 which will be marked with an opening ceremony.
The camp itself is located within the grounds of Baghdad International Airport; giving it an advantage security wise and a prominent location for business in Baghdad. The location of the camp within the airport makes its especially convenient for international arrivals. The camp will contain one main, secure exit point which will be monitored 24/7 with all visitors checked and recorded. Security is a very important issue for the camp with the safety and overall well-being of the camp inhabitants being of utmost importance. Aside from a full range of facilities (TV, internet, en-suite WC) the camp will contain a dining and relaxation area as well as a fully equipped gym.
The design and construction of the camp is part of Al-Burhan Group’s wider strategy of providing local expertise and assistance for foreign companies and organisations wishing to do business in Iraq. These services include initial assistance with new arrivals and immigration as well as a full range of business services including: ‘meet & greet,’ accommodation, financial guidance and legal assistance. This new camp is being designed to set exemplary standards for quality of construction and facilities. The lack of secure accommodation and the high prices of hotels have created a large market for quality and secure accommodation within Baghdad. The camp will hopefully be the first of many with business activity in Iraq expanding tremendously.
