As part of a contract signed with Iraqi Republic Railways in August 2010 to supply five Flush Butt Welding Machines, Al-Burhan Group along with Progress Railway Services – railway division of Caterpillar - arranged an eight week manufacturing training course for twelve Iraqi Republic Railways’ engineers in Alabama, USA.
The machines provide cutting edge technology in the railway industry. Its computerized welding heads require a high level of understanding of the operation. The success and performance level of the welder lies within his operational techniques for taking advantage of the machinery’s optimum output capabilities. These necessary operational techniques were taught to trainees during the eight week program, operated across February and March 2012 at Clementon Welding Headquarters in Kensas City, and at Progress Rail Services Manufacturing facility in Montgomery, Alabama, USA.
Progress Rail Services gave the Iraqi Republic Railway trainees a tour of their manufacturing facilities in order to introduce them to and advise them about the latest technology and to demonstrate Progress Rail Services manufacturing techniques that can be utilized in rebuilding the Iraqi railway network.
