Adacel wins ATC Simulator contract for Iraq with Al-Burhan Group
Al-Burhan Group is proud to announce that its aviation partner Serco has won the contract for installing the Tower Simulator for the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority (ICAA) with the use of Adacel technology. The aviation industry is growing tremendously in Iraq with demand expected to grow significantly year on year driving significant investment into the sector. As part of this rapidly advancing sector; Al-Burhan Group has partnered with UK services firm Serco to deliver the contract requirements. Expertise and technology will be provided by Adacel who have a long history of experience in providing Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems. The deal includes provisions for the training and initial guidance of Iraqi ATC operators.
Adacel is a global software technology and systems integrator headquartered in Orlando, Florida. The company is a leading developer of critical aviation, speech recognition, defence simulation and security systems for government and commercial enterprises. It provides comprehensive support services for all products including full-time, on-site operation and maintenance; a key requirement for the ICAA. The company's products can be found in many of the world's leading aviation entities, both civilian and military.
The Adacel simulators will allow the ICAA to train its operatives to the highest standards and in-line with international regulations. The proper operation of the ATC network is of utmost importance to the safety of Iraq’s airspace. The simulators will provide trainee’s with a 360° field of vision accurately reproducing the situation experienced in an airport as well as the airspace above. The system itself uses a variety of interfaces and hardware options in order to closely resemble what the operators will actually work with in future. The training tower is designed to specifically demonstrate how every aspect of ATC operation works.
The simulators will also be able to reproduce weather conditions as well as emergency situations in order to provide students with an accurate scenario of events that may occur. In addition the system includes a full radio system allowing students to practise communicating with aircraft and other airport officials. With such the latest technology at their disposal; trainees will be able to quickly and efficiently meet the required standards for real ATC operation covering the whole of Iraq.
Al-Burhan Group is proud to deliver this technology to Iraq; bringing the nation to the standards of international rules and expectations for quality of ATC operations.
Baghdad and Basra International Airports (including regional airports) are projected to become theMiddle East regional hubs serving the nation and wider region. Therefore Iraqi air traffic levels are expected to increase dramatically over the next few years placing an important responsibility on the country’s ATC network. The training system is expected to be fully operation by the end of 2011.
