Saw Machine

Purpose:
To cut the de-tensioned strand wires between each gang of cast sleeper prior to de-moulding.

Operation:

The saw is placed on track with the over head crane and is connected to 3 phase power supply. The tank is filled with clean water and the stop valve is turned on. In operating the tank must be constantly filled in order not to let water run dry. The hydraulic motor is started waiting 10 seconds; the saw is driven into “ready to cut” position which is between the 2 ends moulds where the end plate was removed. These strands will be cut by saw, then the clamp will be closed to lock saw into position. Start saw motor is pressed and then lower saw and water pump are started. When the saw head is fully down, cutting can commence by pressing forward or reverse depending on the direction of cutting; speed control is adjusted to the desired speed. When it has been cut all the way across, water off is pressed and the saw must be raised up. For safety reasons, the saw cannot be moved to the next mould until the saw head is fully raised. When cutting has finished the saw head does not need to be lifted. Clamp off is pressed and then drive to the next mould. Alternate ends can be cut in a U shape, starting front one mould and then cutting from back to front to back of next mould. The process is repeated until finished.

Cycle time:
  Approximately 2.00 minutes per mould.
